My journey into skincare didn’t begin with wanting to copy what someone else was doing. It began with curiosity.
I started studying Korean skincare because I was fascinated by the philosophy behind it. Instead of constantly trying to strip, scrub, dry out, or “fix” the skin, so much of Korean skincare focuses on supporting it—hydrating it, protecting its natural barrier, layering ingredients thoughtfully, and treating the skin with patience.
That philosophy spoke to me.
As a Native American woman, I have always felt a connection to Mother Earth and to the idea that nature provides remarkable resources for us. Plants, minerals, oils, water and other naturally derived materials have been used for generations in cultures around the world.
But I am also a woman of science.
My background in environmental science taught me to look beyond beautiful marketing and ask questions. What does an ingredient actually do? Why is it being used? How does it interact with other ingredients? What does the research tell us?
That is where my love of Korean skincare and my own philosophy came together.
Inspired by Korea. Created Through My Own Story.
What inspired me most about Korean skincare wasn’t a single ingredient or product. It was the approach.
Hydration matters.
The skin barrier matters.
Consistency matters.
Gentleness matters.
And beautiful skin doesn’t have to come from attacking the skin.
I began taking those principles and exploring how I could combine them with modern cosmetic ingredients, peptides, humectants, barrier-supporting ingredients and botanicals to create something of my own.
That became SIOL Skincare.
SIOL is Korean-inspired skincare, but it is created and made here in America by a Native American woman with her own story, education and connection to nature.
I don’t want SIOL to pretend to be a Korean brand. It isn’t.
I want to proudly acknowledge the skincare culture that inspired me while creating products that reflect who I am.
Where Science Meets Mother Earth
For me, skincare doesn’t have to choose between science and nature.
I believe they belong together.
Nature can inspire us. Science can help us understand it. Modern cosmetic science can also give us extraordinary ingredients that complement what nature provides.
That balance became the heart of SIOL:
Science + Nature.
Every formula begins with a simple question: What does the skin actually need?
Not what is trending this week.
Not what looks impressive on a label.
What can support healthier-looking, hydrated, comfortable skin?
Made by a Real Woman for Real Skin
I’m not interested in pretending that real skin has no pores, texture, lines or history.
Our skin changes as we live.
It carries sunshine, laughter, stress, motherhood, aging, mistakes, healing and everything else we’ve experienced.
I believe we should care for it—not be ashamed of it.
That’s why one phrase has become so important to me:
Honor your skin. Your skin tells your story.
SIOL Skincare is part Korean inspiration, part modern science, part Mother Earth, and very much my own American story.
Made in America.
Created by a Native American woman.
Inspired by a skincare philosophy from across the world that taught me something beautiful:
Sometimes the best way to transform your skin is simply to start treating it with more care.
